Focus Mask

Overview

Focus Mask places a semi-transparent overlay on all screens with a rectangular cutout around the currently focused window. Everything else is dimmed, helping you concentrate on a single task.

Toggling

  • Global hotkey: Press Mod+F to toggle the mask on or off.
  • Quick Switcher: Click the eye icon in the toolbar.

Opacity

Adjustable from 10% to 80% (default 40%):

  • Quick Switcher: Use the opacity slider that appears when the mask is enabled.
  • Settings: General > Focus Mask Opacity slider.

The setting is persisted and applies immediately.

Multi-Monitor Behavior

Focus Mask creates a separate overlay panel on each connected display. When you switch focus between screens, the cutout follows. If your display configuration changes (monitor connected/disconnected), the overlay panels are automatically recreated.

How It Works

The mask polls the focused window every 250ms using the Accessibility API. When WinPin itself is focused (switcher or organizer is open), the mask temporarily hides to avoid interfering with your window management.
